Can you mix on headphones or earbuds and get a good sounding mix? Well, whenever you ask the question “can I”, the answer is almost always “yes”, and the same is true for headphone mixes.

There are however a few things to keep in mind when mixing on headphones, so in this video, I take you through my three biggest tips, which are:
1. Understand the limitations (frequency response)
2. Know your headphones (play music you are familiar with to get to know your own headphones)
3. Reference your tracks on other playback devices (car, phone, home stereo)

How to use “Drummer” loops GarageBand iOS (iPad, iPhone)

How to use “Drummer” loops GarageBand iOS (iPad, iPhone).

If you don’t play drums (or even if you do!) the Drummer feature is one of the coolest ways to get a drum backing track in your songs in GarageBand iOS.

In the latest version (2.3.6) of GarageBand, a new set of Drummer loops have been added, making it even easier to use Drummer to create drums for a complete song.

In this video, I show you how to use Drummer to set up a complete backing track.

How to import MIDI drum loops in GarageBand iOS (iPad, iPhone)

How to import MIDI drum loops in GarageBand iOS (iPad, iPhone).

MIDI file importing in GarageBand iPad and GarageBand iPhone is finally here in version 2.3.6, and in this video I show you how to download and import a MIDI drum loop and use it in your GarageBand iOS project.

MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and is a standard that has been used in digital music for decades. The ability to import MIDI means that you can now bring in MIDI tracks from anywhere and assign them to instruments in GarageBand. Drum loops are one of my favourite types of MIDI tracks to use, and in this video, I show you how you can use them too.

Check out my iPhone Buyer’s Guide at http://studiolivetoday.com/iphone

What is the best iPhone for recording and creating music?

In this video, I take a look at the complete range of iPhones, and let you know my recommendations for the best iPhones to buy that balance performance and price.

My number one recommendation (September 2018) is the iPhone 6S+, as it combines a large screen with enough processing power and decent storage options.

When shopping for an iPhone, look out for Apple’s 4-digit model numbers which will be printed (very small!) on the back of the device. For example, the iPhone 6S+ will be model number A1522, A1524 or A1593.
