== Lyrics ==

Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa

When you feel like you’re right at the end of your tether
When the weight of the world starts to get you down
Toughen up man you don’t wanna show emotion
Suck it up, look away don’t make a sound

Hey princess what’s that in your eye
You’re feeling numb and wonder why

There is no crying in Baseball
It’s something that you just gotta know
There is no crying in Baseball
‘Cause if you cry in baseball or in life, don’t let it show

Whoa
Whoa

Every day you would say things just to hurt me
Every time that I woke up I would scream
You were getting so much pleasure from my suffering
Didn’t care what your words were doing to me

Hey dirtbag what I gives you the right
It’s hard to lose when you don’t even choose to fight

There is no crying in Baseball
It’s something that you just gotta know
There is no crying in Baseball
‘Cause if you cry in baseball or in life

Now it’s 10 years on and I’m feeling better
I survived all the worst that you could give
How is life for you now I hear you’re struggling
Karma is a dish best served ice cold

So now who, are you, to question me
I said who, are you, to question me
I said who, are you, to question me
I said who, are you to question me

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa
== Behind the song ==

This song started with the hook, which was lifted without any shame from the classic 90s movie “A League of Their Own”, which was of course “there’s no crying in baseball”.

In fact, I edited a video at the time pulling together clips from the movie. I can’t show it on this channel for many reasons, but those who know how to Google will find it.

The song itself is based on some of my experiences in high school, where bullying was sadly just a fact of life. Bullies still exist and I’m sure kids continue to be bullied to this day. I hope the narrative of this song is somewhat uplifting, despite it’s dark tone. It tells the story of a teenager who was subjected to bullying in high school and then grows up to pity those who were the “bullies”, as they never quite grew up and grew out of this stage.

The line “it’s hard to lose when you don’t even choose to fight” is one that resonates most with me. Bullies need a victim, and when they run out of people who care enough to fight with them, they end up leading shallow and meaningless lives.

There’s some interesting quirks to the actual arrangement, which you can find out about by watching the videos linked in the playlist at the top of this description.
